[Fuzzysabeast]: 282.Please Forgive Me
Rating: 0.00
Andrea and I started our relationship with a rough road to travel. Both of our families were against us and neither of us had much to start with. I was raised over four hundred miles away from where Andrea was brought up. The neighborhood I grew up in was dangerous to even drive through. I spent nights lying awake listening to gunshots and police sirens, while Andrea was raised in a peaceful environment surrounded by open water and a world of possibilities laid upon her feet.
“I know that life with me isn’t always easy Andrea, but you know that I mean well.” I told my wife. “And I know that I can sometimes be a full-fledged jerk, but Andrea please forgive me, it’s the only way I know how to be.”
“You know if you were from anywhere else I wouldn’t hesitate to tell you that you are full of it!” Andrea answered.
“It’s just so hard for me to adjust to doing things differently when this is how I’ve had to be for so long.” I explained to her.
“I know Jeff, it’s just that sometimes I wish you could understand how you effect other people when you treat them like they’re out to get you.” She replied.
It was true, I was constantly reacting that way. It was all due to where I grew up, because in my neighborhood you had to constantly watch your back. People were always out to get you, whether they had reason to or not. About the time you’d let your guard down is when they would attack, full force.
“I am trying not to be that way Andrea, I really am trying. I just wish you could see that!” I told her.
“Look Jeff, I realize that you are trying, but you really need to try harder from now on, just slow down and think of what you are about say or do instead of just reacting. Ok?” Andrea coaxed.
“All right, I’ll try things that way honey, just please forgive me.” I agreed.
“I forgive you babe, and I’ll try harder to overlook some of the little quirks that you have.” She responded. “Just remember that I love you regardless of your attitude.”
“Thank you my love, I know you are and I love you too!” I answered with a smile.
